Damage Tests

  1. Non-magical attack damage is limited to 3 bonus dice per die. For example, if a roll of a single d6 comes up 6, you would get to roll a bonus d6 and add it to the result; you are allowed to do this only three times (for a total of 4d6). Magical attack damage is not so restricted. See Extraordinary Attack Test (below) for more information.1
  2. Damage Tests following a Good Attack Test result incur a minimum damage of STR Step.2
  3. On an Excellent Attack Test result, minimum damage is STR step + the weapon’s Step.2
  4. On an Extraordinary Attack Test result, minimum damage is as for Excellent (above). In addition, non-magical attacks that achieve an Extraordinary Attack Test result are not limited in the number of Bonus Dice they may receive.1

1 Items enhanced through abilities such as Forge Weapon are still considered non-magical. Magical attacks include such sources as Thread Items, spells, dragonfire, and so on, and have no limitation to the number of Bonus Dice.

2 For spells and other abilities, substitute ‘Attribute’ and ‘Attribute + Bonus’ as appropriate. For example, the spell True Ephemeral Bolt has an effect of ‘WIL + 3’. In this case, a Good Spellcasting success against an opponent would do a minimum Damage of WIL, and Excellent and better Specllcasting Test successes would yield a minimum of WIL + 3 in damage.
